Formula 1 is in the hot phase. The test drives at the end of February are the starting signal for the new season, a week later the first race in Bahrain takes place. Mick Schumacher is also there – but not in the car.
Mick Schumacher has little hope of doing laps in a Formula 1 car this season. The prospects for the son of F1 legend Michael Schumacher are not exactly rosy.
Anyone who would have thought that Mick Schumacher could be seen on the track several times this Formula 1 season was probably wrong. There are currently no plans for the 23-year-old to appear at Mercedes.

The racing team confirmed to “auto motor sport” that no slot would be made available for Mick Schumacher during the three-day test drives. Schumi Jr. is in the garage, but won’t get in the car.
The regular drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell get the rare test time. And Schumacher is also not allowed to do the so-called shakedowns – 100 kilometers for advertising purposes.

There are no guarantees for the 23-year-old in the first free practice sessions either. Although teams have to use a junior driver for two Grands Prix per season, Mick Schumacher is excluded from the regulation. The drivers may have a maximum of two Grand Prix starts, Schumi Jr. has 42 races.
THIS is Schumi’s only chance
The only way for Mick Schumacher to get a job in the car is if Hamilton or Russell are out. Schumi Jr. is only allowed to drive if the regular drivers have to pass due to illness.
But the 23-year-old still has enough work to do. Schumacher should be there at every race weekend, give his input in the meetings and work in the simulator between the Grand Prixs.
