Luka Doncic’s Three-Word Response to Biggest Trash Talker Question
Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks are gearing up for the upcoming campaign with high expectations after making it to the NBA Finals last season.
The Mavericks retained their championship core and added Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall and Spencer Dinwiddie in the offseason to aim for another deep run.
Doncic is expected to maintain his prolific numbers, while also trying to be more of a mature leader. He’s often been criticized for constantly whining to the referees and engaging in spats with opponents.
Other players have confirmed that the five-time All-Star likes to talk trash. But when asked about who he thinks is the league’s biggest smack talker, Doncic bit his lip.
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic against the Phoenix Suns at Footprint Center.
“I can’t say,” Doncic said in a video posted by Overtime on Instagram.
The 25-year-guard has had his fair share of verbal altercations, most notably with Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker.
Meanwhile, Doncic’s teammate, Kyrie Irving, was singled out by New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson as a big trash talker.
“He never initiates it, but when someone does talk trash, he takes it to another gear, that would be Kyrie,” Williamson said in the same video, while also mentioning Suns star Kevin Durant and Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.
With Doncic continuing to develop and embrace his role as a leader, the Mavericks are poised to get better.
