With Australian racing driver Daniel Ricciardo unable to find a full time racing role in Formula One for the 2023 season, a number of questions have arisen regarding his future in racing.
However, some clarity for that arose thanks to information from Sky Sports F1’s Ted Kravitz speaking during the middle of Q2 at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, TX.
Kravitz revealed that the Australian has secured a reserve driver role for the next season.
‘I’ve got some good news for Daniel Ricciardo fans.’ he said. ‘He might not have a race drive next year, but we do understand that he has closed out a reserve driver role for next year. He told us on Thursday he will be around and about the Formula One paddock next year.’

That prompted main commentator David Croft to find out what was unsaid and ask which team Ricciardo may be joining.
‘I thought you might ask me that,’ Kravitz replied. ‘We thought Mercedes because they now have a vacancy given that Nyck de Vries their reserve driver is going to Alpha Tauri. But I’m told it’s not Mercedes. So which only kinda leaves…’
‘A return to Red Bull?’ Croft asked.
‘Yeah that leaves Red Bull as teams that have reserve drivers on hand at every race,’ Kravitz said.
Ricciardo was a longtime driver with Red Bull Racing, racing for the Milton Keynes-based outfit from 2014-2018 after two seasons with sister team Scuderia Toro Rosso.
