Floyd Mayweather truly is the master when it comes to the art of defence.
There’s a reason why some fans call him ‘The Best Ever’.
After all, the aim of boxing is to hit and not get hit, and it’s fair to say that no one has ever made it look as easy as ‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd.
And now a video has resurfaced of Mayweather showing exactly how his defence works.
The clip, reposted to Ringside Fracas’ Twitter account, shows a young Mayweather speaking to a reporter at the Money gym in Las Vegas.
Mayweather, 45, officially retired in 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor with an unblemished record of 50-0.
He is also the highest-paid athlete of the last decade, according to American lifestyle magazine Forbes.
Much of his success is thanks to his father, also Floyd, who is credited with teaching his son the defensive skills that made him a champ.
Mayweather Sr, 69, was a former boxer himself, who competed in the welterweight division from 1974 to 1990.
Nicknamed ‘Pink’ in reference to the tiny pink hat he wore during his fights, Senior won his first four professional fights, but never managed to win a world title during his career.
After having one last fight against Roger Turner in 1990 which saw him retire with 28 wins from 35 fights, Mayweather Sr threw himself into training.
He reportedly taught a young Floyd how to throw a punch at just a year old, but the pair have had their fair share of high profile bust-ups over the years.
However, they reunited for Mayweather’s 2015 win over Manny Pacquiao, as well as his TKO win over The Notorious two years later.
Mayweather told FightHype.com in 2019: “This is the man right here that made it all happen.
“You guys want to know how I was able to make over a million dollars – this man right here, he taught me from day one.

“What he told me is this: ‘The less you get hit, the longer you last in this sport.’
“This man right here sacrificed everything for me. He went out there and hustle in the streets to give me a better life, to give his family a better life. He went to prison and came back home.
“And guess what? I have to repay him back.
“I love him because without him none of us would be where we are today so I have to thank him for that.”
