Jeff Van Gundy gives a strong proclamation on Luka Doncic’******
In four seasons, Doncic has averaged 26.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists through 264 regular-season games. And in the playoffs, he’s taken it up a notch, averaging 32.5 points in 28 games. Second only to Michael Jordan in playoff point-per-game output.
His historic production led ESPN’s Jeff Van Gundy, on a recent episode of “Harp’s Court” podcast, to proclaim that there is no one he’d pick over Doncic to start an NBA team.
“Top-5 — Wilt [Chamberlain], [Kareem] Abdul-Jabbar, [Michael] Jordan, LeBron [James],” Van Gundy said. “You know everyone’s going to have their own guys. … But I’m going to tell you this right now — if you gave me one person to start a team with in the NBA right now, I would pick [Doncic] first.”
Doncic, at 23, already has a Hall of Fame career resume. He’s a three-time member of the All-NBA First Team. He’s made a Western Conference finals. And overseas, he’s led Real Madrid to win the tenth Euro Cup in Belgrade in the 2017-18 season, while winning MVP of the Euroleague.

It’s no surprise Van Gundy believes Doncic is one of the best young players in the game. What is shocking is that he may consider him top 12 all-time already.
“If you would expand that to top-12? I’m saying fact,” Van Gundy said.
