The Australian is without a contract next year after being released by McLaren, but says ‘love eliminates stress’ as budding actress Heidi Berger distracts him from F1 worries.
Australian F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo has admitted that he’s ‘in love’ with aspiring actress Heidi Berger – the daughter of 10-time Grand Prix race winner Gerhard Berger.
Ricciardo is two wins behind his potential father-in-law with eight wins to his name since making his F1 debut in 2011. Despite winning last year’s Italian Grand Prix, his spell with the McLaren has been a complete disaster, prompting him to be dropped with a year left on his contract and replaced by Oscar Piastri for 2023.
But the Australian is still one of the most popular personalities around and, when appearing on the Fitzy & Wippa Podcast, he admitted he was in a great place as far as his personal life is concerned.

Host of the podcast Ryan Fitzgerald asked: “Are you in love at the moment?” Ricciardo went on to reply: “Yeah mate, I’m in love, I got a good thing going, so yeah. I’ve got a good balance in life right now.”
The 33-year-old has had been struggling for form since he made the surprise decision to leave Red Bull, where he won seven races. After McLaren dropped him the Australian has been left without a seat for next season but said that his relationship is helping.
“I think love eliminates stress, yeah absolutely,” he added.
“I honestly don’t know yet. When I say I don’t know, like I don’t have a contract yet for next year. Could it still happen? It could.
“I’m not getting too caught up in next year, like of course I want to race, I want to be on the grid, I want to be competing.
“But I’m not seeing next year as all or nothing. I also think 2024 is something I need to be aware of and look at.
“So that could be a year off … but I would still very much be in the mindset of getting back on the grid for 2024.”
