Mikeaukee Bucks Best players drafted 24th overall Honorable mentions
I’ll be damned if I don’t get to mention some of the fun names who have been selected 24th overall that didn’t make the top five. Guys like Serge Ibaka (former Buck!), Latrell Sprewell (four-time All-Star, one-time All-NBA), Derek Fisher (five-time champ, current Los Angeles Sparks coach), Rick Fox (Canadian!), Tim Hardaway, as well as Reggie Jackson among others have been taken with that 24th overall selection.
Sure, these guys might not be stars but they’re solid role players that were even really good starters at a certain point in their careers. You’d definitely be stoked to have these guys in their prime on the Bucks, let’s be honest. Anyway, onto the top five!
You better believe we’re going to kick this off with a former Bucks coach and Milwaukee native in Terry Porter. While it would be cool if the Bucks drafted a future head coach at this spot, we aren’t going to hold Porter’s coaching record (99-116) against him here.
Milwaukee Bucks Best players drafted 24th overall Honorable mentions
Porter has played the second-most games of anyone drafted 24th overall at 1274 which is fewer than 20 shy of Fisher at 1287. Porter averaged 12.2 points on 57.6 percent true shooting, 3.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in his long career, mostly spent with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Let’s keep things going with a former Buck and a pretty dang good one at that. Sam Cassell was drafted in 1993 by the Houston Rockets and played a total of 993 games with eight different teams but some of his best years were with the Bucks.

In 313 games with Milwaukee (the most of any team in his career), Cassell averaged 19 points on 55.1 percent true shooting, 4.0 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals. Overall, Cassell averaged 15.7 points on 54.4 percent true shooting, 3.2 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He was a decent shooter for the era, shooting 33.1 percent on a couple of attempts per game.
As sad as I am to say this, number three is not Marquis Daniels and it is not a former Buck either. But Andrei Kirilenko was pretty awesome at his peak but it was short-lived.
At 797 games played, Kirilenko doesn’t come close to the two previous names listed before him but he was surely the more impactful player in his prime. We just didn’t get to see it as much as we would have liked.

Ranking the 5 best players drafted 24th overall: #2 – Kyle Lowry (MEM)
One massive pain in the side for the Bucks in recent years and the greatest player in a franchise’s history, Kyle Lowry may not be the most talented but he has turned in one hell of a potential Hall of Fame career since being taken by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2006.
I have a special place in my heart for Lowry since I’m from Toronto so I’ve been able to see his peak up close and how he helped transform the Raptors franchise from a laughing stock to a championship through some tough years.
